I bought some perfume samples from Lucky Scent. I've always been a bit apprehensive about perfumes; so often I loathe a strong scent. But I started reading some perfume blogs (how I wandered into one, I don't recall), and began to be seduced by their descriptions.

The Garden Party Wistaria is described as

extremely delicate, like the air after a summer rain. Top notes: bergamot, lemon and petit grain. Heart: orange blossom, wisteria (wisteria) and pansy. Base: tolu balm, white musk and amber.

Or,
Wistaria opens with a sparkle of bergamot and petitgrain that is soon washed over with lily of the valley, neroli, and essence of pansy. A whisper of white musk, gently sweetened by amber and deepened with tolu balsam, hugs the skin. The fragrance is soft, utterly feminine.

So far, success. It's a delicate floral that deepens a little as I wear it. Hmm.

Again, massive spoilers for Vorkosigan-verse if you continue! You are warned!

Continuing off a comment thread on [personal profile] synecdochic's post about Weber...

I was wondering why I felt moved to post on this, anyway. And the reason is this:

The idea of taking an author's current work as evidence of the author's personal beliefs seems fairly prevalent in the blogosphere right now. I disagree with this viewpoint (a lot).

begin to pontificate )

Have you ever seen a movie or read a book where you absolutely loathed and despised the narrator or viewpoint? And yet... it was great writing and made you think about an issue you really didn't want to think about? Yeah, like that. Ask me about Susan R. Matthews sometime. Um, don't click on that link. Really.

I'm having a lot of fun (re)reading fic, and discovering new stuff here. I should warn some of you that you may find yourself receiving comments on some older fic, when I (re)discover some stories.

So far my Dreamwidth experience has been great! Thank you!

This is where I actually keep my year's resolution. I Will Comment on Fic -- frequently.

So I won't be posting here much, unless I actually write the dreadful crossover lurking in my brain of Dr. Horrible and BtVS.
